FAQs

Q. What is Reiki and what does a session look like with you?

reikisession.png

Reiki is an alternative healing technique that supports health & well-being to the person receiving this healing energy. Reiki is a type of energy healing where the practitioner transmits Universal Life Energy to the client through the palm of her hands. In some cultures around the world this energy is known as Chi, Prana, or the Holy Spirit.

Mikao Usui is responsible for re-discovering Reiki in Japan, and the tradition continues to be passed down through Reiki Masters.

During the ‘Discussion’ period, Tawn will use the Tarot Cards as a way to ground the work together and to understand potential energies that the client is working with. Tarot is complimentary and clients can choose to opt-in or opt-out of the brief reading.

As we move into the Reiki session, the practitioner’s hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body during the Reiki therapy session. A client is fully clothed and will comfortably lay reclined on a massage table for in-person sessions. Virtual sessions will be slightly different where clients can choose a space to settle.

“The intention is to create deep relaxation, to help speed healing, reduce pain, and decrease other symptoms you may be experiencing.”
-Johns Hopkins Integrative Medicine and Digestive Center

Q. What should I do before and after my Reiki session is done?

Every session is individualized to each client and often includes Reiki therapy and a discussion period where clients can discuss their experience and thoughts. For example, if you schedule a 60-Minute Session as a new client, then a session may consist of a 45 minutes of Reiki Therapy and 15 minutes of discussion that takes place at the beginning and end of the session.

Before Your Session

IN PERSON SESSION

  • Arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment

  • Before your appointment starts, feel free to change into comfortable clothing

  • If there's any preference that you have, please feel free to share them before our session starts.

  • We want to ensure that you're as comfortable as possible as we take this journey together. (i.e. it is possible to provide and receive Reiki without physical contact if you’re not comfortable with being touched, if there are recent injuries/surgeries where areas are tender, etc.)

  • You will be fully clothed and lay comfortably on a massage table - additional pillows or support will be available. If you feel uncomfortable during the session, you’re more than welcome to adjust your position or ask for additional pillows or blankets for support. This experience is yours.

  • A day prior to your appointment, hydrate, eat nutritious foods, and refrain from caffeine and/or alcohol if possible

  • Prior to your appointment, set an intention that you want out of our sessions - you do not need to share this if you're not comfortable. (Examples: "I'd like to reduce my back pain", "I'd like to improve my connection to my higher self", etc.)

VIRTUAL SESSION

  • Arrive 1-5 minutes prior to your appointment where you will arrive into a Waiting Room

  • Dress comfortably, and find a comfortable and quiet spot where you can sit or lay down. This experience is yours and we want to make sure that you feel as comfortable as possible.

  • If there's any preference that you have, please feel free to share them before our session starts.

After Your Session

  • Clients usually report feeling refreshed and calm after a session

  • Drink plenty of water and be mindful of your body’s needs as it rebalances itself

  • A short client summary will be sent to the client within 1-2 business days

Q. What’s Online Distance Reiki and is it still effective?

Distance Reiki is a technique that allows practitioners to give a session beyond time and space. While there are different ways to send Reiki Energy, we provide Distance Reiki by having our clients dial in or video conference in with us. During that time we will have a discussion period, followed by a Reiki session, and then transition out and end our session with a debrief.

The format of the Online session is similar to an In-Person with the exception of there being no touch and a bit more verbal cue/guided meditation from the practitioner’s end to create a calm and relaxing container.

Clients report that they feel more calm and feel a transformation after our session.

Q. What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

We understand that schedule adjustments are necessary - that’s life sometimes! Therefore, we respectfully request at least 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments.

After booking your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email and also reminder emails that will include links to Change or Cancel your appointment.

Q. Where does your standard in-person private Reiki Session take place?

Currently, I take in-person one-on-one sessions in Astoria, Queens. Inside Wilde & Well, 31-16 36th Ave.(map here)

Q. How often should I go get Reiki?

Four sessions is a traditional recommendation and gives you time to evaluate the benefits. It is to be noted that everyone is different in their needs and we can discuss prior to starting our first appointment or we can evaluate after the first session.

Q. What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki can assist with pain management and overall recovery, improve sleep, and, in general, stimulate the body's own innate healing powers by bringing balance and harmony to the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies.

Some of the benefits of Reiki:

  • Supports the body's own self healing mechanisms

  • Strengthens immune system function

  • Restores overall energy and vitality

  • Promotes restful sleeping patterns

  • Brings forth conscious awareness of patterns that no longer serve you

Q. Can you give Pet Reiki?

The answer is yes! Depending on the pet and their activity level during the session (it’s totally great if the pet is active and playing!), Pet Reiki can be done using a hands-on and/or a hands-off method (**house-calls are temporarily not available).

An initial Pet Reiki session will be longer than subsequent sessions in order to get to know both the pet and their owner and assess needs.

Q. What payment types do you take?

During the booking process, you will be prompted to pay via Credit Card.

Q. Should Reiki be coupled with any other healing services or can it be done on its own?

We should think of Reiki healing as a way or a tool to manage our well-being. Reiki can be done alone, although it is encouraged to be woven with a healthy lifestyle and other integrative modalities if needed to manage the full benefits.

The program and services offered on Tawn-Le.com also reflects a holistic approach to healing and are curated with that thinking in mind.
